Sonia Storer has served in the banking industry for 26 years and 22 years at BBVA Compass, beginning her career as a part-time teller while attending St. Mary’s University. She has held multiple front-line, support and leadership positions at BBVA USA, now part of PNC, having had the opportunity to work in challenging, complex and dynamic Agile modeled work environments.
Since early in her career, Sonia has served under multiple Heads of Retail Banking leading the Sales Management & Branch Development Strategy transforming the Retail Banking business model to include incentive design, training strategy, performance management and productivity development. In May of 2017, Sonia joined Talent & Culture as the Head of Talent Solutions in the Agile Discipline role. She leads the agile vertical with a one team approach, developing and driving our strategic vision. She works to build and drive talent strategies for our future, generating a competitive advantage in the full cycle of talent management to include attraction, selection, hiring, onboarding, retention, continuous learning, professional development, internal & global mobility and building new talent data capabilities. This include defining and establishing policies, procedures and technology requirements. She also drives engagement & best practices through our Communities of Practice with our global counterparts as well as local business partners.
She also supports our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy, executing to build an inclusive culture which values the professional development and career advancement of all employees through establishment of Business Resource Groups (BRGs) across the footprint. She was Chairperson of Women in Leadership (WIL) – Houston in 2019 & 2020, our first BRG and now lead growth efforts creating new WIL chapters across the footprint as well as supporting establishment of our new LGBTQ, Latin X and Black Employees BRGs.
Sonia is a dedicated mother of three active and accomplished children ages 12, 18 and 22. Her passion is staying active with her children’s extra-curricular, volunteer contributions and academic activities. She is also very dedicated to her fitness regime.
